I'd been thinking about buying a flight simulator for a while, but never got round to it.  I read a review of IL-2 Sturmovik, which utterly raved about the game - it's superb graphics, environments, physics models, etc. - so snagged a copy.  The game is set during the epic battles between Germany and Russia during WWII.  It's a hard game to play, but worth putting in the effort.

The graphics are breathtaking, from the finely details planes to the fluffy clouds that roll across the environment (casting shadows beneath them).

Below are a few shots taken in-game and during mission replays.
